Choosing the Right Vinyl Cutter Blade
Blade angle is the most important variable. A 45-degree blade handles most calendared and cast vinyl, decals, and general sign work. A 60-degree blade is better for thick materials like sandblast mask, rubber, and high-tack specialty films, and it also works well on small, intricate lettering where you need a tighter cut path.
Blade offset matters too. Each cutter model is calibrated for a specific offset value, and using the wrong one causes corner drag and misaligned contour cuts. Check your cutter documentation or the product listing to confirm compatibility before ordering.
Keep a few spare blades on hand. A dull blade is one of the most common causes of lifting edges, torn corners, and weeding problems. If your cuts are starting to look rough, swap the blade before adjusting force or speed.
