Powersports Graphic Vinyl
Powersports graphics are decals for quads, snowmobiles, motocross bikes, carts and helmets, where the plastic is low surface energy and the finished graphic takes abrasion and weather that a standard sign vinyl is not built for. This page holds the two films that make up the system: a 4 mil matte white printable vinyl with a high-bond adhesive formulated for low surface energy plastics, and a 12 mil gloss clear overlaminate with UV protection. The vinyl applies wet or dry and is die and flatbed cuttable; the thick laminate is what gives the finished decal its scratch resistance and the stiffness that keeps edges down on textured plastic. Both are rated for 5 years outdoors.
How to choose
These two films are meant to be used together. Print on 4.0mil Matte White Powersports Graphic Vinyl, High-Bond LSE Adhesive, then laminate with 12.0mil Gloss Clear Powersports Graphic Overlaminate, UV Protective before cutting. The laminated construction is thick, so it suits fenders, tanks, side panels and number plates with flat or simple curves rather than full wraps with deep recesses. Clean the plastic and any crevices thoroughly before application and test on the part first. The 12 mil laminate is thick enough that cutter settings for thicker materials apply, and inks with heavy flow additives should be tested for adhesion to the laminate before a production run.
Both films come in 15, 20, 24, 30, 54 and 60 in widths; the vinyl is 150 ft per roll and the laminate is 75 ft.
